Surrey Quays Leisure Centre: A Game-Changer in Sports and Recreation.
Southwark Council tasked SPACE&PLACE (S&P) with an options appraisal to address the sports and leisure needs of Canada Water’s current and future population.The study determined that a new leisure centre at Surrey Quays would best meet the needs of residents and offer the greatest long-term value.
The proposed scheme includes modern pools, a state-of-the-art gym, versatile sports halls, and a vibrant café with a diverse menu. In collaboration with Southwark Council, S&P crafted the project brief and is overseeing all aspects of detailed design.
As part of a comprehensive masterplan, S&P is designing the leisure component within this expansive mixed-use development. The aim is to significantly enhance leisure facilities in the Canada Water regeneration area. By focusing on high-quality, accessible amenities, the project will serve both current and future residents.
Results
The new leisure centre is set to become a cornerstone of the community, offering outstanding facilities and enriching the lives of the local population. With meticulous design and planning, the centre will address diverse recreational needs and encourage a vibrant, active lifestyle for everyone.
